Party registration bill dies in Va. Senate

The Virginia Senate killed a bill Thursday that would have allowed voters to register by political party. The bill, proposed by Sen. William M. Stanley (R-Franklin County), would have added party affiliation to the information residents are asked when registering to vote. Voters would have had the option of registering as independents.
